Arcus is a complex suite of tools and services provided to researchers that allows them to request and access CHOP data in a secure cloud environment for their research. I serve as the User Experience Specialist and help the team make user research-informed decisions for improving the content and design of the platform. Here I outline my design process for this project.
I helped launch the original MidAtlantic Bioinformatics Conference in 2015, which is now in its 11th year. I designed the original brand identity, the Philadelphia skyline in the style of a heatmap, a common graph used by Geneticists. I was also responsible for designing all conference collateral and multimedia graphics. In addition, I developed the original conference website in 2020, when the conference had to be moved to online format. To this day, the website still uses the original navigation, layout, and content management site that I secured.
As an Outreach Specialist, I coordinated the content for the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics' current website. Working in collaboration with CHOP's communication team, I procured and edited content from across the department's 13 teams. This was a 14 month project for our departmental rebrand to align with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's new branding strategy and guidelines.
I launched the DBHi YouTube channel in 2012. I produced and edited the video content for the channel from 2012 - 2020, which includes more than 90 videos. The original goal of this channel was to offer clinicians continuing medical education credit for viewing presentations from our symposium series. I also designed the channel to align with our website's branding. The channel now has over 300 subscribers.
Proband is an iPad application developed to assist Genetic Counselors in building pedigrees. I was the primary brand strategist for Proband and designed the logo, favicon, website, tutorials, and business card.
